Instant Funding and trading around the news
Free in the challenge phases, by their trading rules. On most funded accounts, no trading within four minutes either side unless the account has their news add-on; the micro accounts are free by default. This is what their own help page says, read on 15 October 2026, with what it means in practice underneath.

The rule, in their own terms
- During the evaluation
- Their trading rules exempt phases one and two of all challenges, so the One-Phase and Two-Phase challenges may trade news. Their One-Phase Pro page says otherwise: news trading permitted only with the Swing add-on, with no exception for the challenge. Ask them before you rely on either.
- Once funded
- Restricted on Instant Funding Pro, Lite and Clarity, on One-Phase Lite and Pro and on a funded Two-Phase account, unless the account has the add-on for news trading. Free by default on IF Micro Clarity, Pro and Crypto, IF Starter, One-Phase Micro and Crypto and Two-Phase Micro. Never allowed on IF Micro Lite.
- The window
- 4 minutes before to 4 minutes after the release, 8 minutes in total. Their page does not set a separate window for speeches. One block of rules on their home page still says 5 minutes, without saying which programme it covers.
- What it costs you
- Up to two warnings, each with the net profit of those trades deducted, and a third violation breaches the account. On IF Micro Lite the first violation moves the profit split to 50 percent and the second closes the account.
- Which calendar counts
- The high-impact, red folder events on Forex Factory and FXStreet. They keep no list of their own.

What trips people up
- Inside the window, market orders, pending limit orders and take profit or stop loss triggers are all blocked, not only new trades.
- A trade opened before the window and closed after it is allowed.
- Straddling and bracketing a release are not permitted.
- The add-on that allows news goes by several names on their pages, Swing and NTWH among them, and it comes with lower leverage.
- The rule covers the instruments directly affected by the release, and no page says which those are. All-day events are excluded.
Knowing the window is not the hard part
Knowing which release lands on which currency, and when, is. A rule about five minutes only helps if you saw the event coming that morning.
