The month in review

Once a month has closed, we write down which of the eight majors did best and worst, what every central bank decided, and whether our own ranking and setups held up. A week is too short to say whether the ranking works. A month is the first time it can start to.

Written by Mike. Measured the same way as the track record.

What a month adds to the week

The weekly review tells the story of five mornings. A month has four or five of those, which is enough to ask the bigger question: did the currencies we ranked strongest do better than the ones we ranked weakest? It is also where the central bank meetings land, since most banks meet once in a month or not at all, and where one month can be held against the one before.

Every number is measured from the London opening on the same prices as the track record. There are no entries, no stops, no spread and no costs in it: what is measured is the move of the currency or the pair, so it is the research being judged rather than a trade.
