FundingPips and trading around the news
No restriction during the evaluation. On a master account, profit from trades inside the window around restricted high-impact news is deducted. This is what their own help page says, read on 23 September 2026, with what it means in practice underneath.

The rule, in their own terms
- During the evaluation
- No restriction on holding trades through news events on the 1 Step Flex, 2 Step Standard, 2 Step Flex and 2 Step Pro programmes.
- Once funded
- On the master account, profit made on trades opened or closed inside the restricted window around high-impact news and speeches on the affected currency may be deducted.
- The window
- 5 minutes before to 5 minutes after a release. Around speeches it is 10 minutes before the start to 10 minutes after the end.
- What it costs you
- The full profit of the affected trade is deducted, not only the part earned inside the window. Purposely trading news in either phase is prohibited and can close the account.
- Which calendar counts
- Their own economic calendar on the dashboard is the official source, and they publish a reference table of announcements per currency.

What trips people up
- A trade opened five hours or more before the event falls outside the restriction. That is the swing trader exception, and it is the most useful line in their whole article.
- Closing part of an order affects the entire order and flags it as news trading.
- FundingPips Zero is stricter: holding, opening or closing during restricted news is not allowed at all, with a window of 10 minutes either side.
Knowing the window is not the hard part
Knowing which release lands on which currency, and when, is. A rule about five minutes only helps if you saw the event coming that morning.
MacroSetup flags every high-impact release for both currencies in a setup, with the time, before the session starts. This week's events for the eight majors are public on the calendar page, and what the research does with them is on the page for prop traders.
The other firms
The windows run from two to ten minutes, and what happens afterwards runs from nothing to a closed account. Worth reading before you pick your next challenge.
