Funded Trading Plus and trading around the news

News trading is allowed in the challenge and once funded, with no fixed window. Trades are judged afterwards in a risk review, which can take the profit or the account. This is what their own help page says, read on 15 October 2026, with what it means in practice underneath.

We are not affiliated with Funded Trading Plus, there are no affiliate links on this page, and their own page is linked below.

The rule, in their own terms

During the evaluation
Allowed. Their challenge pages say news trading is allowed, subject to policy, and set no window in minutes.
Once funded
Allowed on the same terms. There is no timed restriction around releases.
The window
None in minutes. What counts instead is how much margin a trade uses and how long it is held, against how volatile the market is.
What it costs you
No penalty specific to news. Their risk review at a pass, a scaling request or a withdrawal can forfeit the pass or the profit, lower the leverage, end the account or ban the trader. Their terms list excessive risk taking exacerbated by news events as a prohibited strategy.
Which calendar counts
Their pages do not name a calendar or a list of events.

Funded Trading Plus news calendar: this week's high-impact releases

What trips people up

  • Their own example of an unacceptable trade is a payrolls trade using 90 percent of the margin and held for about 10 seconds.
  • Several of their pages refer to an FT+ News Trading Policy, and we could not find that policy anywhere on their site. One link to it is a placeholder. Ask them for it before you trade news on a funded account.
  • No window does not mean no rule: the review looks at the size and the holding time of a news trade after the fact.

Knowing the window is not the hard part

Knowing which release lands on which currency, and when, is. A rule about five minutes only helps if you saw the event coming that morning.

MacroSetup flags every high-impact release for both currencies in a setup, with the time, before the session starts. This week's events for the eight majors are public on the calendar page, and what the research does with them is on the page for prop traders.

The other firms

The windows run from 2 to 10 minutes, and what happens afterwards runs from a share of the profit to a closed account. Worth reading before you pick your next challenge. All 16 firms side by side.
