Blue Guardian and trading around the news
Allowed in the challenge. On a funded account, no opening or closing within five minutes either side of red folder news and FOMC speeches; the profit is removed, the account stays. This is what their own help page says, read on 15 October 2026, with what it means in practice underneath.

The rule, in their own terms
- During the evaluation
- News trading is allowed during the challenge phases.
- Once funded
- On a funded account, no opening or closing of trades inside the window. On Instant Standard accounts bought after 13 November 2025 news trading is not allowed at all, and on Instant Starter it is allowed.
- The window
- 5 minutes before to 5 minutes after red folder (high-impact) events, and the same around FOMC speeches and statements.
- What it costs you
- Profit earned in the window, or significantly influenced by news, is removed without an account violation. Their terms also list boom or bust news trading as a prohibited strategy, and that can end the account. Their page does not say what happens to a loss.
- Which calendar counts
- Red folder events, without naming a calendar, and a table of the instruments each currency's news reaches.

Blue Guardian news calendar: this week's high-impact releases
The high-impact releases for the eight major currencies this trading week, from our own calendar, in Amsterdam time with the UK time beside it. Which events are restricted is Blue Guardian's decision and their own list is the one that applies, so use this as the week to plan around and check theirs before a trade on a funded account.

What trips people up
- Profit significantly influenced by news events can be removed as well, and that wording can reach a trade you held through the release.
- Dollar and FOMC news reaches beyond the dollar pairs: gold, silver, the US indices, bitcoin and ether are in their table too.
- Their page does not say whether a stop loss or take profit that fills inside the window counts.
- Hedging is allowed within one account, not between accounts.
Knowing the window is not the hard part
Knowing which release lands on which currency, and when, is. A rule about five minutes only helps if you saw the event coming that morning.
MacroSetup flags every high-impact release for both currencies in a setup, with the time, before the session starts. This week's events for the eight majors are public on the calendar page, and what the research does with them is on the page for prop traders.
The other firms
The windows run from 2 to 10 minutes, and what happens afterwards runs from a share of the profit to a closed account. Worth reading before you pick your next challenge. All 16 firms side by side.
