FunderPro and trading around the news

Allowed in every challenge. On a funded account without the Swing add-on, no trading and no holding within two minutes either side of their listed releases. This is what their own help page says, read on 15 October 2026, with what it means in practice underneath.

We are not affiliated with FunderPro, there are no affiliate links on this page, and their own page is linked below.

The rule, in their own terms

During the evaluation
Trading and holding through news are allowed in all challenge phases and types.
Once funded
Without the Swing add-on, trading or holding trades on a funded account inside the window is restricted, and positions on the affected assets have to be closed. On the Instant programme, news trading and holding are only allowed with the Swing add-on.
The window
2 minutes before to 2 minutes after a listed release. Their list holds no speeches.
What it costs you
On the Instant programme, trading restricted news without the add-on is an account violation, whether the trade made or lost money. For funded challenge accounts their page states no penalty of its own; their general rule is a warning or an automatic closure, depending on the severity.
Which calendar counts
Their own published list. For all assets: payrolls, retail sales, CPI, PPI, GDP, core PCE, ADP, the ISM surveys and the Fed. The ECB for euro pairs, the BoE for pound pairs, and the oil and gas inventories for those commodities.

FunderPro news calendar: this week's high-impact releases

The high-impact releases for the eight major currencies this trading week, from our own calendar, in Amsterdam time with the UK time beside it. Which events are restricted is FunderPro's decision and their own list is the one that applies, so use this as the week to plan around and check theirs before a trade on a funded account. What trips people up

  • Holding counts: a position opened more than 2 minutes before a listed release is news holding, and on a funded account without the add-on that is restricted too.
  • The dollar releases on their list restrict every asset, not only the dollar pairs.
  • The Swing add-on lowers the leverage on the Instant programme to 1:20 on forex.
  • Their terms only mention entering a trade, which is narrower than their help pages. Go by the stricter one.

Knowing the window is not the hard part

Knowing which release lands on which currency, and when, is. A rule about five minutes only helps if you saw the event coming that morning.

MacroSetup flags every high-impact release for both currencies in a setup, with the time, before the session starts. This week's events for the eight majors are public on the calendar page, and what the research does with them is on the page for prop traders.

The other firms

The windows run from 2 to 10 minutes, and what happens afterwards runs from a share of the profit to a closed account. Worth reading before you pick your next challenge. All 16 firms side by side.
